Decorated Bodies

Tattooing is a painful method of decorating the skin - an art traditionally employed by sailors, but, increasingly becoming popular with women of all classes. It may be surprising to find that a woman, whom you least expect of having a tattoo, has a small butterfly or heart, perhaps on her shoulder or in some more intimate place. Some people find tattoos on others a turn on, other people find them a complete turn off.

One of the disadvantages of getting a tattoo is the pain involved when having them done. Another is that with age, they begin to blur. If you outgrow your tattoo, you'll discover they are difficult to remove. This is also true if you break up with the one whose name you have on your arm, professing your love for eternity. Even with laser surgery this can be an unsightly, long process and might prove to be expensive.

Visible tattoos can be a dead giveaway - suggesting the Navy, the Marines, or wild teenage years. I've known men who are now in their forties who regret ever having them done, and can't really remember why they did such a thing. It probably seemed a good idea at the time. Others are very proud of their masterpieces. Many men and women find them sexy. More elaborate designs, like the large decorations that cover the chest or back, are less popular.

Temporary tattoos have been popular during recent years. If applied properly and with care, they can look like the real thing for a short while, say for an evening out. After a while they become cracked. They work best on skin that is smooth and taut like a shoulder. These tattoos are easily removed with baby oil applied with a cotton bud.

Further Reading

Would you believe that there are some Internet FAQs on body art, tattoos, and body piercing at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology? (Where else would you look?) Interesting reading they make too. You have to extract these FAQ files by hand as it's not really a web page as such. If this bothers you, you can get some FAQs from The Rabbit Hole FAQ Page.

Also there's some heavy duty material at Piercing Exquisite's Home Page. This gets serious with a warning not to go past the home page if you're under 18. (Years presumably.)
