KOMODO - LONDON, BALI AND KATHMANDU

Under the roof of an authentic Tibetan tent, Komodo launched the Free Tibet clothing range to raise funds for Tibetan refugees.

While many clothing labels aspire to the fashion Mecca's. Komodo is drawn to the more diverse corners of the globe. The label 'London, Bali. Kathmandu' is a reflection of where they are from and not where they want to be.

Inspired by the tropics of Bali and the terrain of the Himalayas,Komodo combines Eastern vision with London's urban landscape. Materialising from the East-end streets of London are the 'Urban' and 'Cold Turkey' collections. In the form of sports-inspired streetwear, the collections consist of cleverly constructed lines which are built upon with details including; side-button fastenings. flag labels (in Urban waxed cotton), fine ribbing. drawstrings and embroldered logos (in Cold Turkey sweats).

The Wild West-end of London provided inspiration for 'Izm',their first denim collection for 11 years. Not since 1986, when jackets were conceived from a pair of old Levi jeans has Komodo considered the urban cowboy. However, rather than Levi's re-worked, the fabric is red salvage. With fit and style, the collection successfully crosses over from the men's to women's range and vice versa.

Continuing to look towards the East, inspiration is drawn from the land of the rising sun and rollin' surf. A dip-dye natural cotton is used for the 'Rip Tide' collection to create surf shirts and beach pants that reflect the colours of the ocean. An island life theme is created in the feisty girls 'Lozenge' collection. The garments are body-conscious with an emphasis on woman wisdom and street sophistication, rather than femininity.

From Kathmandu, Komodo brings the earth's herbal healing! Cannabis sativa. With patch pockets and drawstrings (under the bust line on mini and maxi length dresses), the 'Hemp' collection is enduring in its minimalist style and fine attention to detail. The collection also launches a knitted hemp fabric, which is the finest of its kind.
