Summertime and the living will be easy

It's hard to believe that Summertime's just around the corner when the daffodils in the garden have only just opened here in our neck of the woods.

Clothes in all shades of pink, from fuchsia through pale pastels and blue proving to be an ever popular colour in the shops for summertime.

To complete the look, accessorize with one of the new mini-handbags and matching strappy high heels.. Don't forget the finishing touch - a pair of Jackie 'O' sunglasses.

Summer of course is swimsuit season. This year a retro 40's 50's onepiece will be a beach essential. Worn with a matching flirty skirt you can wear your cosi for cocktails.

Take the plunge with the new low necklines and show some cleavage with a bra that makes the most of your natural assets, or if you have to, cheat with underwiring and pads.

If you're a show-off you'll be in your element with the sheer designs that were on the catwalks for evening. Designers from Jean Paul Gaultier to Chanel all had show and tell pieces in their collections.

Some new pieces to update your wardrobe and take you through Summer:

  • Start with a basic white blouse with or without french cuffs. This can be worn casually with jeans, with black velvet trousers for evening dressed up with some pearls or bangles. Satin is a newly popular fabric that can be worn day or night. A shirt in a longer length can be worn under a baby tee (a look very popular in England).
  • A bias-cut or pleated short skirt.
  • One of the new fitted jackets.
  • A pinafore dress or wrap dress, to layer with sweaters or shirts or worn alone.
  • A swimsuit, for the beach or worn as a bodysuit under jeans and skirts.
  • A cotton tee in black or white.
  • A twinset, a matching cardigan and short sleeved sweater will take you from office to dinner just by adding a string of pearls.
