Lynda Stretton's background in fashion is in both the retail and
wholesale side of the fashion business. For a number of years she worked
in a wholesale fashion district in the heart of industrial England. She has
fashion experience ranging
literally from the shop floor all the way up to manageress and buyer. At Jefferson B
Fashions, she was responsible for buying and maintaining a wide range of
labels. Clothes on the rack included: dresses, coats, menswear etc. with an emphasis on evening
wear. Children's clothes and costume jewellery were also in the product line.
Her itinerary included
visits to the runways of the fashion houses of London and other English cities.
Other fashion companies included: Bruce Fashions, and Mates. Bruce Fashions
specialized in
denim clothes with a sideline of evening dresses. Mates - an Irving
Sellars chain of stores - sold middle-of-the-road ladies' daywear.
Over the last two decades, Lynda has resided in both England and America,
and has watched the global changes in fashion purely as an objective observer.
Her only involvement in fashion at present is through the pages of
this magazine, but this keeps her busier than she ever was as a buyer.
