Alexander McQueen
Alexander McQueen has stage managed his reputation as Britain's Bad Boy of
Fashion by being more or less rude to the press. His fashion creations
which belie his nasty image range from feminine to fantasy, but - in similar
vein to his public persona - are always confrontational.
Alexander McQueen's academic training in fashion started at Epsom and
continued at St Martin's School of Art. He graduated from art college in
1992. Following his graduation, he worked in Savile Row, then
for Romeo Gigli, and Koji Tatsuno.
In March 1994, he formed his own label
and started earning his worldwide reputation.
He took over from John Galliano
in October 1996 at the House of Givenchy.
Alexander McQueen was British Designer of the Year in 1996.
