(Born 1968) London-based Anya Hindmarch, the designer responsible for the hugely popular I'm Not a Plastic Bag tote, is revered for her classic, chic collection of handbags, luggage, shoes, and accessories, available in any of her 37 stores. Self-taught handbag designer who launched her business in 1987. Superb craft skills and witty designs have won Hindmarch's work a devoted private clientele and recognition by designers Bruce Oldfield and Katharine Hamnett. Although her fashionable bags are sold at Harvey Nichols, Liberty, Harrods, and throughout the US and Europe, her Knightsbridge shop, which opened in 1993, is the only place to see the complete range of Anya Hindmarch's handbags, wallets, purses, and key holders.
