Betsey Johnson

1942-
Born in Hartford, Connecticut, USA. After finishing her study in the School of Art of Syracuse University, this American designer worked as an illustrator of shoes for a fashion. magazine. She abandoned art for a career in the '60s and her clothes started to sell in Paraphernalia . a chain of boutiques selling clothes designed by young designers from America and Europe.

In 1978, she started her own store in New York. Since then, she has become the icon of fanciful American Fashion and stuck to her own subversively pretty, wildly chic and 'full tilt' feminine design formula.
