
Charles Creed
(1909-66)
Born in France. Creed was a tailoring firm
established London 1710 and Paris 1850.
Launched womenswear early 1900s. Charles
Creed served apprenticeships in Vienna and at
Linlon Tweeds in Cumbria. He later took over
Paris womenswear. In 1946 set up on his own
at 31 Basil Street London; the house closed on
his death. Understated classic tailoring. Author
of Maid to Measure (Norwich: Jarrolds 1961).
