
Digby Morton
(1906-83)
Born in Ireland, trained at the Dublin
Metropolitan School of Art and then at the
Polytechnic Art School, London. Designer at
Lachasse from its opening in 1928. Launched
his own couture house in 1930 and introduced
ready-to-wear in 1939. Specialized in
fashionable tailoring and country clothes in
tweeds which he sometimes teamed with Aran
knitwear. Worked in America 1953-57. In
1958 he became Design Director of the
London firm Reldan Digby Morton which
produced casual classic sportswear. Retired
1973.
