
Gerald McCann
(Born 1931)
Trained in fashion at the London's Royal College of Art and graduated
in 1953. Influential youth designer whose
signature fashions included dresses made in
denim and Liberty's Tana Lawn military-style
coats and fake fur clothes. Sold designs
through Mary Quant's Bazaar and was
instrumental in founding the Top Shop
boutiques. Expanded into the American market
with his own departments in leading stores
such as Bloomingdales. Returned to London
1990.
