Arnoldo and Sergio Girombelli
Arnoldo and Sergio Girombelli founded Byblos in 1973 as part of the Genny
Group. The addition of designers Keith Varty and Alan Cleaver to the team
in 1981 brought new styling impetus and success followed quickly.
Younger and more casual lines were added in 1985 and 1986 respectively.
Growing popularity in the US led to a Fifth Avenue store being opened, and
later, joint ventures spawned Byblos shops in Japan, the company's first
link with a now widespread Asian market.
