India's leading casual clothes designer, Jattinn Kochhar, a 1972 born Aquarian belongs to a north Indian business family. The eldest amongst three brothers, this black sheep of the family launched his label at the age of nineteen, in the year 1991, without any formal training in fashion. He and his wife work as a team in running their designhouse.
Known for his affordable and wearable designer clothes, Jattinn Kochhar is the first designer to be selected by the Australia fashion framework to show his collection along with the Australian team on the Out of Australia world tour 1993.
The designer, who is known to wear his love for animals on his sleeves, has participated as a guest designer for travelling fashion presentations around the world where he showcased his creation in Bangkok, Colombo, Johannesurg, London, Sydney, Canberra, Rio and Sau Paulo.
In 1999 Jattinn did a series of fashion shows across Egypt starting from Cairo, Aswan, Luxor to Hurghada. Along with the fashion shows, Jattinn also exhibited his first painting exhibition in Egypt which further traveled and was exhibited at the "Casual Power House" art gallery in Sydney.
In India he has had shows regularly in metros like Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta along with Mussorie, Bhopal, Surat, Baroda, Cochin etc. Jattinn also took part in the Lakme India Fashion Week 2002.
Jattinn's ability to amalgamate his soulful heritage with true urban influences has been the foundation of his design ideology. Simplicity with absolutely clean and fuss free lines have been the hallmark of his creation. He enjoys designing simple, practical lines both for men and women. Keeping in mind the urban lifestyle of his clients, he lays major emphasis on simple designs, which can be worn both casually as well as formally by just changing the accessories.
In 2005, he put together a uniform for one of the leading schools in New Delhi -- Tagore International -- comprising summer, winter and the sports uniform along with specially designed shoes and other accessories. Also he designed for the opening sequence of the Viennese ball for the Austrian Embassy in New Delhi.
Jattinn Kochhar has come to be recognised for his sexy styling and use of knits. Jattinn started his career in designing by launching his label with a club wear line for the younger group. Presently he does 4 different lines.
  1. Junior Line - line for young professionals in the age group of 15-21.
  2. Office Wear - this line offers versatile, understated, practical and perfectly tailored range of clothing for fashion conscious men and women in the age group of 25-35.
  3. Pret Line - this line offers versatile, understated, practical and perfectly tailored range of clothing for fashion conscious men and women in the age group of 25-40.
  4. Evening Wear - this line offers exclusive evening wear for both men and women ranging from traditional, fusion wear to western formal wear. This line of clothing consists of embellishments in the form of embroidery and swarovksi crystal; also traditional forms of embellishment like Chikan work from Lucknow, Mukaish work from Rampur, Patti work from Aligarh, Phulkari work from Punjab etc.
Jattinn Kochhar has also been writing on fashion and other lifestyle related topics for leading newspapers.
