Jean Charles de Castelbajac
In 1968,
youth fashion followed the lead of the street with relaxed
and functional 'combat' clothes such as jeans and parkas. Jean Charles de
Castelbajac was there and was one of
the new wave of
designers to launch an attack on luxury, along with Kenzo and Chantal
Thomass. He was noted by the International press from his very spectacular
showings.
Castelbajac was born a rebel. at a time when fashion was flirting with
romanticism he designed a minimalist, futuristic collection, then in the
'80s when black was the dominant colour, Castelbaja made his fabrics
explode with colour, cartoon characters and prints.
