
Jean Elizabeth Muir
Born London 17 July 1928
Died London 28 May 1995
Trained within the industry: 1950 worked as a
sketcher for Liberty studio, 1956 worked at
Jaeger, 1962 appointed designer for Jane &
Jane. Launched own label in 1966 which
continues in her name. A highly skilled
dressmaker and tailor renowned for her
precision cut clothes and meticulous attention
to detail. Signature fabrics are jerseys, matt
crepes and supple suedes, and standard colours
are navy-blue and black. Unadorned clothes
often accented with precious handcrafted

She died at teh age of 66 from cancer.
