
Jeff Banks
(Born 1943)
Born in Wales. Trained as a painter and studied
textiles at St Martin's School of Art. Ran
Clobber boutique 1964-74 selling own
designs and those of other young designers.
Became widely known in the mid-1970s when
he launched the Warehouse chain followed by
the 1980s mail order firm Warehouse Utility
Clothing Company. Now has his own label
and design licenses. A great supporter of the
British fashion industry instigator and presenter
of the first mainstream fashion programme on
British television, The Clothes Show.
