Karl Lagerfeld
Born:-09/10/1938
Designer, has his own line as well as designing for Chanel, known for his light, flowing style.
His glorious enterprise began with mixed reviews. Karl Lagerfeld's
tenure at the legendary house of Chanel started in early 1983 - as a
"consultant" to the couture - with more than a soupcon of uncertainty
about what he's really achieve. But it wasn't long before the Chanel suit
he rediscovered, reinvented and rejiggered became the thing to wear in the
Eighties - and his shows for the house the most interesting in Paris.
Lagerfeld had pulled off the seemingly impossible - he made a fashion
uniform invented by a now deceased designer in late Fifties all the rage
again 30 years later.
And that isn't all. Lagerfeld brought back the spendid net evening dresses
from Coco Chanel's archives of the Thirties. But he also put Chanel C's on
everything, fron Jackets and skirts to shoes, bags, swimsuits and
underwear. And then Lagerfeldshowd the knees, then the thighs and sometimes
even a nipple or two, some said that Coco would have turned in her grave.
But what's more likely is thatshe would have applauded his inventiveness in
making a timeless house forever young.
