London couterier who concentrated on feminine clothes meant to flatter. Made charming party dresses and outfits for the woman who feels her best in soft colours, expensive fabrics and easy lines. Launched his couture house in 1946 and created elegant eveningwear and neat tailored suits. Sherard was successful for a brief period, known for his tailored tweed day dresses and eveningwear. Closed in 1964 when demand for haute couture declined. Subsequently taught at London College of Fashion bringing the same high standards to teaching as he had to design.
