Otto Lucas

(1903-71) Born in Germany trained in Paris and Berlin and then opened a London salon in 1932.He became a highly successful milliner popular in the USA and Great Britain producing some of the most elegant hats of the 1940s and 1950s. An entrepreneur who with great acumen bought designs from milliners paying a license fee to reproduce their work. Lucas supplied hats to stores and dress designers in addition to creating styles for his private clientele and for the cinema. Clients included the Duchess of Windsor. His creative ability matched his business prowess producing 55,000 hats in his final year.
