
Victor Edelstein
(Born 1946)
Born into the rag trade of Russian parentage.
During the early years of his career worked for
Alexon Clifton, Slimline, Nettie Vogue, and
Biba. In 1970 he opened his own business
which went bankrupt. Spent three years at
Christian Dior, London. In 1977 he
established his own label and from 1982
produced solely haute couture. Was especially
celebrated for his luxurious elegant
restrained and flattering eveningwear and
wedding dresses. 1n 1993 he closed, stating
that there was no longer a market for luxurious
couture clothing.
