
Zandra Rhodes
(Born 1940)
Her mother worked at Worth in London.
Zandra trained at Medway College of Art and
then studied textiles at the London's Royal College of Art graduating in
1966. She and Sylvia Ayton launched Rhodes
& Ayton, and in 1967 opened the Fulham
Road Clothes Shop to sell their work. First
solo collection was in 1969. Her fabrics, shapes,
colours, and themes are unique and innovative.
She is especially well-known for her ethereal
special occasion clothing with screen-printed
and hand-decorated textiles. Author with Anne
