Fall Fashions for Men
What to Wear for Men
Fall's Continuing Trends

Men's fashions change slowly. But, more and more choices are becoming
available and getting quite interesting in the variety of looks that are
acceptable. In one way men are lucky not to have to drastically change
their wardrobes every season. Fall looks can be updated by borrowing a few
'mod' items.

It's refreshing to see colour making a comeback, in bold blocks of
bright colours like peacock blue, tangerine and raspberry - tangerine
becoming the favourite option, particularly for street style and
sportswear.I can't see many men wanting to wear peacock blue or orange
but they may try adding a splash of colour with accessories. There may be
some reluctance on the part of some men to stray from the safe fall colours
of brown and black.
Fabrics such as moleskin and boucle work alongside gaberdine and tweeds for
tailoring. As usual, cord is a favourite fabric for fall and of course
wool, the new stretchy kind. This season they are joined by synthetic,
rubberised materials. In casualwear, warmth is provided by fleece and the
ever popular cable knit sweater. Other choices for sweaters will be
donegal and tweed effects in rich autumnal colours.
The Boys are back in Town

A narrow silhouette and layering of sweaters and shirts with jackets are
key looks for casualwear this autumn, giving a relaxed feeling. Layering
gives you a chance to individualize an outfit. You can layer as much or as
little as you want as long as you still have a long lean, uncluttered
appearance with clean lines. If you're of the black and white persuasion,
try a white bike jacket over an orange ribbed sweater, dark grey trousers
and a pair of white loafers. Or if you want to look casual but smart, you
might try a red jacket worn over black narrow trousers, a black satin shirt
and a white plain knit, crewneck sweater.
Formalwear becomes more formal with the return of the single breasted
three-piece suit.
Jackets are longer and slim with a three or four buttoned single
breasted front, worn with flat-front narrow trousers. Underneath the jacket
is a V-necked or high-buttoned waistcoat and shirt. Depending on how you
want to dress it up, this outfit can be worn in plain wool or the more
traditional pinstripe. I like the idea of wearing this suit with a french
cuff shirt and black suede work boots.
