Colour and Curves
English company Elégance certainly live up to their name. They go with colour
to make a comeback for Spring and Summer. From creamy pastels to
intense brights, the only rule is undiluted purity, And when colour comes
on this strong, the cut has to be perfect.
Elégance creates a curvy silhouette, worlds away from the
ethereal waif of the past. Fabrics are cut into structured shapes
which celebrate the return of the hourglass figure reminiscent of the
30s, 40s and 50s. The waist is the new focal point; clever cutting
and seaming moulds the fabric to the body, creating perfect hips and
decolletage without constricting. Three distinct themes dominate this
season: City Elégance, Natural Elégance, Artistic Elégance.

City Elégance. A busy city life demands a pared down
simplicity. Inspired by Hepburn's gamine and the ice-cool style of
Grace Kelly, Elégance have created a capsule collection based
around single-button jackets with waists encircled by narrow belts. Worn
with crisp white pique shirts, fluid trousers, or slim skirts which fall
to the knee, they create the narrow look which delineates the new modernity.
These directional separates are matched with twinsets and tunic
tops in snow white, emerald green and vivid fucshia. Cut from light weight
wool and linen fabrics, these clothes won't wilt as the day goes on.
Natural Elégance is influenced by the 30s sporty cruisewear and
the clean, lines popularised by Garbo and Coco Chanel. Beautifully cut
and effortlessly stylish, these styles are the most relaxed of clothes.
Prints of tiny flowers and butterflies add interest to clothes which
embody elegant nonchalance.
