Sand on the Runway

Sand on the Runway

We don't need much of an excuse to show some pictures! These just might give you some ideas for the beach. Don't forget the suntan lotion and (seriously) watch the ultra violet bursting through that ever-thinning ozone layer.

The first four shots here are by Karl Lagerfeld for Fendi.

This tanksuit gets an update by making it a two-piece and giving it some interesting detail.

Glamorize your beachwear with a huge hat Fendi style! Glamour was the keyword for all collections this summer. Even swimwear got the treatment.

For a more modest but still-sexy look, a tanksuit
is still a winner. This one has had some interesting detail added to it by way of piping around the
waist line.
A cover up like this can take you to the streets. Closed with a tied belt you could be wearing a business suit underneath. No one would ever know. And of course those Jackie O' sunglasses add an air of mystery.

Bold blocks of colour were used in a lot of costumes this year. This two-piece has added interest with blocks of yellow and blue. The colours are echoed by bangles of the same colour. Those bangles are a bit much for the beach though, they make the outfit look complicated.

Adding a turban and a cardigan from one of the new twinsets gives this outfit a fifties look. If you really want to relive the fifties feel, a towelling cover-up and turban would look great.

String bikinis are still welcome on the beach for those of you who can wear them. This one looks like it's been made from one of spiderman's offcasts. And to keep all your belongings together, a patent leather tote is a functional and fashionable answer.

This bikini is given a sporty look with a white piping trim. Without going over-the-top, some sex appeal with the laced up bra top.

Bright Hawiaan prints bring back memories of dancing to the Beach Boys on the 'trani'. A baby tee or matching bra top would distinguish you from the other beach girls.

Red or Dead always have brightly coloured collections. These otherwise plain bikinis were given a splash of colour with beach towels made of real beer towels from the pubs of England. (That 'E' is an actual Worthington 'E' beer towel.)

Would you dare be seen on the beach in this one?? Just kidding, but we liked the picture. Another one from the lens of Ellen von Unwerth.
