Short Skirts

Fun for Fall

Minis in lace. Minis in leather and suede. The must-haves that go with these are leggings or sleek boots.

In the Sixties, an inexorable revolution took place during which hemlines were raised - raising a few eyebrows in the process. By the middle of the Sixties, hemlines were as high as four inches above the knee, despite the fact that the runways were advocating hemlines at the knee. Following that, skirts slowly became even shorter, becoming the mini, then for the more daring (and those who had the legs) the micro mini.

It was almost as if women had been raising their hemlines inch-by-inch, decade-by-decade and suddenly one day someone looked down and saw knees.

A flirty number - lace skirt worn with sheer button front shirt.

This look is always sexy. A white top with a short black skirt is classic; it'll never go out of style

By 1964 skirts were the shortest they had been in 17 years - since back to Dior's hem-drop in 1947.

Despite the contribution the Sixties made to the mini, this season's new minis have a Seventies appeal. Sixteen sexy inches in vinyl, lace, leather and patchwork suede.

miniskirt how-to's

The mini can be daring or not. Wear it to work with opaque hose and chunky high heels.
For a figure-flattering look, wear one of this season's swingy kilts and a longer length sweater, with dark hose and shoes.

You could wear this to the office and still seem confident and strong. Short skirt, long turtleneck natural hose high-heeled pumps.

If you aren't yet ready to try a mini, try leggings worn under a wrap skirt, with loafers and a skinny sweater.

Don't be afraid to wear a mini!
