Velvet is making news in vivid colours and sexy dresses

If you really wanted to, you could dress yourself top to toe in velvet this fall and wear it all day long.

The colours are so lovely I'm tempted to do just that. I want to get one of everything in each colour.

There's a lot of choice out there at the moment: velvet, velvet or velvet. Or crushed velvet. Anything from bra and pant sets, dungarees, trousers, shirts, skirts and of course the evening dress... you name it... it's out there. In velvet.

Why hasn't this happened before?

The feel and drape of this material is so sensuous, it just asks to be stroked and fondled .

That's the lure of velvet.

What to wear with it.

  • Get a long lean dress for the evening - nude hose and metallic high heeled sandals or mules.
  • A velvet shirt - jeans are always a good option for weekends. For evening, a short skirt in a matt material, or for the disco queen, try a straight, lurex skirt with a slit, and with any of these combinations, always spiky heels.
  • Under a velvet jacket - a satin shirt, in the same colour but a lighter shade, teamed with satin pants the same shade as the jacket.
  • A simple sheath dress doesn't need anything, but if you want to dress it up a little, add a chunky chain in gold, either around your neck or as a bracelet.
