Michael Constantinou advises

With the ever increasing interest in hair fashion, people are taking full advantage of the latest technology and skills of hair styling to achieve wonderful creations. Great Britain has some of the most famous world hair designers, Vidal Sassoon (a living legend), Daniel Galvin (voted world colour expert of the year), Anthony Mascalo (recently voted hairdresser of the year) and of course Michael Constantinou (Men's world Champion). In the World Championships for the last ten years, the Constantinou family have won more medals than any other family in history.

You might be asking, "What makes one hairdresser better than the other?" Our philosophy is simple: "Hair is a very personal part of one's character. You can't order a hair style as you would a pizza, it takes imagination and skill". That's why they are among the greatest hairdressers in the world today. They've built their reputation on the trust between themselves and the clients.

Anything Is Possible

Computers are now widely used to show clients how a drastic change would appear, by taking a video image of the client, then adding different variations of a hairstyle to the face. A printout of this image as a polaroid picture can then be given to the client. Therefore, technology has allowed us to see how we could look with many different hairstyles. Our hair is our own personal blueprint with its own growth pattern and texture. What works for one may not work for another. This is where professional advice is vital.

"It's Good to Talk"

Most salons in the world will give a free consultation under no obligation. If you have a consultation with a new stylist or your regular stylist, thoughts can be exchanged to create a marriage of ideas where a plan can be set, in order to obtain your desired look. When using pictures, take into consideration that days were spent in obtaining the end result on a model who is paid because she looks so good. Also look at colouring and perming, especially if you are happy with your hair length but would like a change.

Taking the Plunge

When the time comes for you to take the ever worrying process of the hair cut, colour or curl, where will you go?. A computer cannot do this for you!. Do you trust your regular hairdresser, would you approach your friend (whose hair you admire), and ask where she has it styled? What about the latest hi-tech interior salon? Do you ask someone to come around to your house (to save the embarassment of walking out of the salon if it went wrong)?

You need to Trust Someone Eventually

Generally, home hairdressers are not up on the latest hair styles and may have recently finished a college course with little or no salon experience. Some salons look better than they perform, so be careful. Your friend's hair may look great... take consideration of the cut and if it is good, ask which stylist performed the creation. Ask which products she uses - any purchased from a salon will be of higher quality. These brands have credence as they are recommended by a professional. In most situations you can return the product if you don't like it. Whichever option you choose, there needs to be communication between both parties.
