snowboard girl Christmas Shopping Tips for Men

Jingle bells, Jingle bells, Jingle all the way....

Sorry to have to mention this but, it's time to face the Christmas crowds again. One way to make this event less painful is to know what it is you're shopping for before you set out, fat wallet in hand. It can be nerve racking choosing a present. You can roam the department stores for hours looking for that perfect gift. How do you know what she really wants? Should you give her a present? Do you know her well enough?

Here's a little help in making her happy this Christmas.

"Oh you really shouldn't have"

Don't give her anything personal - unless you're very close. The safest presents are things that relate to her hobbies and interests: a subscription to a magazine: a piece of sporting equipment; a new tennis racket; some skis. Don't give her make-up unless you're sure of what she likes, because she'll feel obliged to wear it in your presence, and you might overhear a remark from one of her friends like, "Hey, Sarah, who punched you in the eye?"
"Great holiday gifts are the ones that are special and useful".
Watches Does she like to get outdoors and try something new? Book her into the sports centre for kayak lessons, rock climbing or snowboarding lessons.

"There's No Present Like the Time"

Timepieces make ideal gifts. Watches are such a big fashion item these days that women love to vary the style depending on their outfit and mood. Consider a marcasite dress watch with an old world elegance, or one of the new pendant watches as a chic alternative to classic pearls. If she's not a watch wearer how about a desk timepiece that is a miniature reproduction of an antique or period clock. They're an elegant and practical gift for the home or office.

Unless she's given clear messages for the last couple of months about what she wants, choosing a classic or really wacky gift is probably your best bet.

This year there are lots of choices in luxurious gifts. Anything in fur, leather, diamonds or cashmere will be gladly accepted.

Get her a cardigan that is as comfortable as a bathrobe - a cashmere wrap cardigan with a fur collar.

If you really want to get her attention, buy her a bra embellished with one hundred diamonds, with one huge diamond of 42-carats. Cost? $3,000,000. Or if you're a few pennies short of that, there is the bra glittering with Austrian crystals going cheap at $200.

diamond bra Who couldn't stand to be a bit more organized these days? Attractive agendas or organizer handbags and purses come equipped with special pockets and pouches for everything from sunglasses to cellular telephones. Coloured in rich, textured neutrals, these practical fashion accessories are the perfect answer to our hectic lifestyle.

Slippers aren't the gifts reserved for Grandma anymore. Slippers can be a novelty item or they can be so stylish that she may even want to wear them outside.

The gift of jewellery is guaranteed to put a smile on any woman's face, and brooches are what's in this season. One of the hottest accessories on the runways from New York to Paris, brooches were featured alone or grouped together on collars, lapels or even along the shoulder line of jackets. Why not buy her a few?

Is she a bit wild, does she dare to wear what the rest of the crowd won't. How about some coloured false eyelashes, in purple, red or blue. Or some fake gems to stick on her body wherever she pleases.

Turtlenecks are a versatile gift. This year they come in lots of variations from the practical cotton to sexy sheer netting.

Is she the kind of girl who runs a bath as soon as she gets home from work? Get her a bath gift box - make it a fairly upmarket one. Make sure it has lots of sensual smelling soaps, lotions and creams. If she has a favourite perfume, get her a drawerful of stuff in that scent, wrap everything up in matching tissue paper.

Find out who her regular hairdresser is, and book her in for a whole year of the beauty treatments that the salon offers, pedicures, manicures, facials and massages.

Anything Chanel. A Chanel gift set, they're always fabulous and a simple but expensive make-up case. Or a Chanel bag. Or maybe - if you're loaded - a whole outfit.

An antique perfume bottle filled with her favourite perfume.
